Name: Kinley
Age: 3
State: SC
Kinley is a smiley 3-year-old who loves nothing more than watching Mickey Mouse and Goofy cartoons on TV. He also enjoys completing jigsaw puzzles, playing Elmo games on his Xbox game system, and shooting Nerf guns.
Before he turned a year old, Kinley’s parents found him unconscious one day and he was airlifted to the hospital. After tests, it was determined that Kinley had been born with two congenital heart defects: a tumor in his heart (called a left ventricular fibroma) and an atrial septal defect, which separates the upper heart chambers and did not close properly. To repair both defects, Kinley underwent open heart surgery that lasted nine whole days; for the duration of the surgery, Kinley was sedated and hooked up to an ECMO machine that provided both respiratory and cardiac support. Since his surgery, Kinley has suffered three strokes as a result and developed epilepsy and tremors. He wears ankle foot orthotics on his legs for more than 12 hours a day and he must attend weekly physical therapy sessions to help maintain his mobility. Because of his condition, Kinley will be in and out of the hospital his whole life.
For his wish, Kinley wants to meet his favorite cartoon character, Mickey Mouse, at his Florida home in Disney World! Get ready to meet the mouse in person, Kinley, because your wish is about to come true!
